A discovery call is a free, 15-minute phone call that gives us a chance to chat before starting therapy. The goal of the call is to learn some basic information about each other and decide whether we’re a good fit to work together. I’ll ask you about what brings you to therapy and what you’re hoping to accomplish. Then I’ll share a bit about myself and my practice. You’ll also get a chance to ask questions. The call is an opportunity for you to get a feel for my personality and see if we “click,” which is essential for successful therapy. At the end of the call, we’ll decide on next steps together. We may decide to schedule our first session, or you may need time to consider your decision. If it doesn’t feel like I’m the right therapist for you, I’ll follow up the call with information about other providers and organizations that might be a better fit. Click here to contact me, and I’ll email you to schedule your discovery call.

The scheduling process begins when you contact me here to set up a free, 15-minute discovery call. Once you fill out your contact information, I’ll email you within 2 business days with scheduling options. Should we decide to work together, we will agree on the date and time of your first appointment at the end of your discovery call. For ongoing appointments, you have a few options for scheduling. We can agree on the date of your next appointment at the end of every session. You will also have 24/7 access to online scheduling through your SimplePractice client portal. This allows you to schedule quickly and easily outside of sessions when it’s most convenient for you.

Sessions generally last for 50 minutes. I’ll meet you in the waiting room and walk you to my office. We’ll start every session with a head, heart, and body check-in so that we can both be mindful of how you’re feeling in the moment. After that, we’ll collaborate to decide what will be the most productive use of the time. That might include processing current issues you’re facing, exploring long-term patterns, learning about your emotions, or practicing skills to help you reach your therapy goals. At the end, I often give you the option of completing outside work to make sure you’re applying what you learn between sessions.
-
This depends on the unique challenges you’re facing and the goals you set for yourself at the beginning of therapy. Typically, we’ll start off meeting weekly and re-evaluate frequency based on your progress. Many clients feel better after 8-12 sessions, but again, therapy may be shorter or longer depending on your unique situation. In any case, we will decide on your course of treatment together.

My office is located in Maryland Farms, just off of I-65 in the business hub of Brentwood. Once you turn onto Continental Place, you’ll see the sign for building 103 on your left. Building 103 is the one with a flagpole right out front. Free parking is available to the left of the building and directly behind it. Whether you enter through the front doors or the back, you’ll see an elevator bank on the first floor. If you enter through the front doors, you’ll pass an office on your left that says “Therapy Space” on the first floor. You’re close, but my office is actually on the second floor. Take the elevator up to the second floor and you’ll see suite 204 on your right with glass doors that say “Therapy Space”. Inside you’ll find the waiting room with a wall-mounted check in system. Search my name on the screen and type in your initials to notify me that you’re waiting. Then you can take a seat, I’ll come get you from the waiting room at the time of your appointment.

For virtual appointments, we’ll use a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform through SimplePractice. Prior to our session, SimplePractice will email you a telehealth appointment reminder. A few minutes before the session begins, you’ll find a quiet private place to meet and click “Join Video Call” directly from the email. If you’re joining from a computer, you won’t have to download or install software, enter a password, or create an account. If you’d like to join the call from your mobile device, you can download the Telehealth by SimplePractice app in the iOS and Android app store.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost
Under the law, health-care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health-care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item.
You can also ask your health-care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, click here or call 800-985-3059.
