Therapy for Depression

Depression treatment for adults available in-person in the greater Nashville region and online across the state of Tennessee

Living with depression doesn’t feel much like living at all. Getting through day-to-day life feels about as easy as running through quicksand. The joy you used to feel in connecting with loved ones, or the pleasure you experienced from a cherished hobby, has vanished. In its place is a profound sense of emptiness and hopelessness for the future. When you feel this low, it can seem like an impossible feat to reach out for help—help you’re not even sure you deserve. No matter what lies your depression tells you, here’s the truth: You are not a burden, you can get better, and you are worthy of the care and connection necessary to get there.

Depression is not a weakness, a character flaw, or a lack of willpower. It is a serious medical disorder affecting millions of people in the US alone. And there is hope, even when you can’t feel it. Research shows that quality therapy is effective in treating depression, and I have just the expertise and experience to help. I specialize in helping individuals overcome depression by addressing not only its symptoms, but also its underlying causes—minus the toxic positivity. Through the process of therapy, we’ll work to rebuild your emotional, mental, physical, and relational well-being and get you moving again toward your most fulfilling life.

You are here for a reason

Our work together will balance exploring the roots of your depression and giving you skills to keep its symptoms at bay. Together, we’ll identify thought patterns and beliefs about yourself and the world that keep you stuck. You’ll learn to practice self-compassion in order to overcome shame and self-criticism. We’ll also consider behavior patterns that may be making your depression worse, like sleeping too much, not going outside in nature, or not having enough social connection. You’ll learn to take care of yourself in ways that restore your energy and provide a sense of motivation to create the life you want and deserve.  The first step in getting help is absolutely the hardest—just know that hope, meaning, and purpose are waiting on the other side, and I would be honored to walk with you there.

I provide counseling in a safe, inclusive space where all identities are welcomed and affirmed.
